Georgie Cadwallader Death

Georgie Cadwallader Death, Obituary – We regret to inform you that Georgie Cadwallader, a longtime volunteer, and presenter for the Northside Radio station, passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer. Georgie, who is well-liked and regarded by her fans, started her career at the age of 30 on Queensland’s 4GY (Gympie) Radio. She developed a love of country music early in life, and as a horse riding enthusiast, it served as the background music for many of the gymkhanas and other equestrian events she attended.

She joined Northside radio after relocating to Sydney and was a devoted volunteer and ardent supporter of the station for many years. She was hospitalized for several months and was in a coma a few years ago due to some major health problems. She voluntarily gave her time at Northside radio once more after getting well from that illness, delivering her cherished program GG’s Country & Western show on Mondays from 9 am to noon. Georgie also helped with a variety of station activities and initiatives, giving new announcers a chance to pick up the ropes and develop their skills.

Georgie frequently offered to step in when one of the other presenters was unable to run their show. She was a tremendous asset to Northside Radio as well as 2RPH, Radio for the Print Handicapped, where she volunteered and spent a lot of time reading to people who were blind. She generously supported MS fund-raising efforts from Taree to Port Macquarie and for many years hosted a Country Music program for the CBAA that was broadcast throughout Australia via the Community Radio Network (CRN).

We regret to inform you that Georgie died away early on Monday, October 10, after spending several weeks in the hospital. To her friends, family, loved ones, and listeners, we extend our condolences. Full Story
