As temperatures rise, the sun shines brighter, and your kids suddenly have extra free time, rely on these 5 fun water ac-tivities to keep them entertained and cool all summer long!
Water Balloon Batting Practice
There are many fun things to do outside with water balloons, including various water sports like this awesome batting practice activity. Fill up balloons with water to roughly the size of softballs, put them in a bucket and head outside. With a plastic baseball bat in their hands, pitch the balloons to your kids. When they “hit a home run”, the balloons will explode and soak them with water!
Fishing With Kids
Fishing is one of the classic outdoor water activities. Head to your local pond or lake with rods, juice boxes and a tackle box, and a few chairs. Catching fish is a bonus, what matters most is spending time together, telling jokes, and making memories.
Fun water activities don’t get much more hilarious than liquid limbo! All you need is a garden hose with a nozzle and de-cent water pressure to create one of the best outdoor activities for kids. Shoot the water in a straight line parallel to the ground — this is the “limbo stick.” See how low your children can go by bending backward (no crouching or ducking!) while walking under the water without any part of their body getting wet!
If you are looking for things to do outside this summer with your family, pack a picnic lunch, head to a lake and rent a pontoon boat. Be sure to wear your bathing suits to jump or climb down into the water and cool off when the motor is safely turned off.
All you need for this fun water activity is warm water, dish soap, light corn syrup and pipe cleaners. Mix the water with the syrup at an 8 to 1 ration (8 cups of water and 1 cup of syrup, for example), then add twice as much dish soap (2 cups, in this scenario) and stir. Pour into smaller containers for your kids to easily access and with pipe cleaners bent into fun shapes as the bubble wands, you’ve made a fun DIY outdoor water activity!
