4 Jacksonville teachers surprised with $15K Gladys Prior Career Teaching Excellence awards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – 4 Jacksonville academics have been acknowledged Wednesday for his or her educating excellence and have been shocked with $15,000 every.

The College of North Florida School of Schooling and Human Companies shocked the 4 academics with the 2022 Gladys Prior Awards for Profession Educating Excellence.

The award comes with $15,000, one of many largest financial awards for academics within the nation.

The Gladys Prior Awards for Profession Educating Excellence have been established in 1998 by Gilchrist Berg, founder and president of Water Avenue Capital, to honor academics with lifelong careers in schooling. Berg has given greater than $2 million to honor Jacksonville academics. The award is called after Berg’s fourth-grade trainer at Ortega Elementary College, Gladys Prior.

The 2022 award winners are:

  • Meshellia Hughes, third grade trainer from Andrew A. Robinson Elementary College

  • Could Hotard, World Languages trainer from Bishop Kenny Excessive College

  • Crystal Parker, Language Arts trainer from Edward H. White Excessive College

  • Sara Henry, first grade trainer from Ruth N. Upson Elementary College

Every trainer was shocked in school with their principal and Dr. Diane Yendol-Hoppey, UNF COEHS dean.
