Arsenal hero, Ian Wright, has branded Chelsea striker, Timo Werner, as ‘lazy’ after the Blues’ Premier League 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.
Chelsea defeated Man City at Etihad, thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso as Raheem Sterling’s first-half goal was not enough to give Pep Guardiola’s men a point.
Reacting, Wright said he was impressed with Chelsea’s performance against Man City but felt Werner was often lazy with his positioning and running in behind during the encounter.
“I think Timo Werner is having a good season,” Wright said on BBC’s Match of the Day.
“Coming to Chelsea with that pressure of scoring goals and then missing chances…
“You need to look at the runs he makes. Here he needs to get back on the side. He doesn’t get on the side.
“He’s got so much space. For me, that is just lazy, it is lazy work. He is running straight offside. Once he sorts that out, he’ll get more chances, then he will need to be more clinical.”
