Trinidad and Tobago Chess Association Wrote;
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Della-Marie Walcott.
Della-Marie was a former National Youth Chess Champion, multiple medal winner at various regional chess tournaments and a two-time member of the Trinidad and Tobago women’s chess team at the World Chess Olympiad.
Della-Marie was in a coma for approximately four and a half years due to complications that arose after a brain surgery she had in December 2015.
Debra Walcott, Della-Marie’s mother, was a former member of the TTCA Executive and still serves as an executive member of the Valkyries Chess Club.
On behalf of the TTCA, we extend sincere condolences to Debra and Dominic (Della-Marie’s father) and her brother Alex, also a former chess player.
May she rest in eternal peace and may God grant serenity and comfort to her family.
