At the ADO Championship in 1942 he was still reserve behind Willem Koek. On September 20, 1942, Niezen made his debut for the club at the age of 16 under trainer Wim Tap in a match against De Volewijckers . He replaced the injured Frans Kok, who had started the season as the first goalkeeper. As a 17-year-old he was under the bar when ADO extended the title on 14 June 1943 in a match against Sportclub Enschede. He is the youngest goalkeeper to become Dutch champion.
Until 1949, Niezen played in 97 league matches and two cup matches for ADO. He played together with, among others, Mick Clavan and Theo Timmermans. He also played for the Hague national team. After ADO, he played for Quick for a few years, where his younger brother Joop Niezen was also a goalkeeper. Because a transfer was not allowed just like that at the time, Dolf Niezen played for a handball club for a short time.
After his career, Dolf Niezen lived in Gieten in Drenthe for a long time. After the death of his wife, he returned to The Hague in 2019, where he lived in a care home. He passed away in 2020 at the age of 94.
