Not a single detail has been shared from a close or reliable source, clarifying Joji Yanami’s cause of death; however, it’s shared that he passed away on December 3, according to his agency Aoni Production who announced the tragic news on Tuesday.

Although nothing has been shared due to his cause of death, in September 2015, Toei Animation announced that for an indefinite amount of time, Mr. Yanami’s roles as the narrator and Kaiō-sama were passed to Naoki Tatsuta as he would be taking a medical leave from Dragon Ball Super.

After the tragic news was announced, many of his fans and friends have been sharing their condolences through social media as one wrote: “So sad to learn Jōji Yanami has passed away at 90 years old. I knew him most as Master Roshi, but his legacy as a seiyuu will live on forever. May he Rest in Peace.”

Another said: “Very sad news. Joji Yanami, who did the voice of Genzo Umon in Grendizer (Goldorak), Professor Yumi in MaInger Z, and The narrator for the Dragonball series, has passed away recently. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”
