We’re saddened to learn of the passing of LCol (Ret’d) E.N. “Bud” Berntson, OMM, CD
Bud is an icon of the Air Cadet Gliding Program here in Atlantic Canada, and had a profound impact on civilian and military aviators the world over.
He served almost 47 years in uniform as an Royal Canadian Air Force Regular Force and later Reserve Force Officer, joining our ranks from 1993 to 2003 as the Regional Cadet Air Operations Officer and Commanding Officer of Debert Cadets.
Following his retirement in 2003, Bud continued to serve volunteering with 615 Bluenose Air Cadets in Halifax, the Shearwater Aviation Museum and as a member of the Air Force Association and Air Cadet League of Canada / Ligue des cadets de l’Air du Canada.
During the summers, he continued his service to the Air Cadet Gliding Program as a tow pilot and glider instructor, and throughout the spring and fall as a familiarization site supervisor for many years.
