Father Erasmo “Sonny” Ramirez, who was born on October 10, 1945, has passed away at 74.
Sonny Ramirez attended Colegio de San Juan de Letran until college.
He is a famous Dominican priest. He was one of the founding preachers of “Siete Palabras,” a Lenten tradition during Good Friday where the faithful would recall the seven Last Words of Jesus Christ during his passion and death.
The tradition was inaugurated 25 years ago.
He is survived by his wife and his children.
“My heart is in a lot of hurt this evening with the very sad news of my Uncle passing away. Deep down I know he is with his best friend, the Lord. I can imagine him enjoying himself with his brothers and parents.,” Eric said in a public post on Facebook.
“I truly wish we could have had more time spent together despite our physical distance,” he added.
“REST IN PEACE. We pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Fr. Sonny Ramirez, OP, Letran alumnus,” read the post.
“Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen,” it added.
