“Jolly Jay” Sorensen Death Dead – “Jolly Jay” Sorensen Obituary: Cause of Death

Horace Clarke Death

Alex Breitler on tweeted ” Deeply saddened to learn of the death of “Jolly Jay” Sorensen — fisherman, old-guard defender of the Delta, and teller of many tales, most of which were probably true. The only appropriate way to honor Jay is with one of his awful fishing jokes (1 of 3).

“I’m happy that my friend lived long enough to see his name enshrined in the California Outdoors Hall of Fame — for his activities on the water, and his activism on dry ground. I’ll wear my blue jacket for you tonight, Jay. #cawater #sacdelta #Stockton”

So Jay is fishing out on Suisun Bay with Dusty Baker, or the guy from Jake and the Fatman, or whoever, and they ask Jay, “How’s the fishing lately?” And Jay says in that deep gravelly voice of his, “Slow in the morning, tapers off in the afternoon and gets far worse after that.”

We will update you as soon as we have more information about his death.
