Frank Campanella Wrote;

“Today, not only did I lose a great friend, but the world has as well. My friend Kathy Pomerantz-Feldman passed this morning from cancer complications. I’ve known her for over twenty years. She was a force to be reckoned with and she was the most hilarious person you would ever meet. Such a great laugh and wicked sense of humor. She always had a great story to tell and she understood the irony of life.

She was an accomplished makeup artist living in New York where she was born and raised. She worked on countless celebrities and many shows from soap operas to talk shows. She recently was lead makeup artist for the Steven Colbert Show.

As a makeup artist, Kathy would book hairstylists to do hair for her. She gave me an opportunity to work with her on so many celebrities and I will never forget her kindness and generosity. People in our industry can often be very aloof and guarded, but Kathy was always herself- ready to go, inclusive, and looking to make every situation a fun one. I always looked forward to having some wine with her, because that’s when she would throw out the yiddish phrases and tell some great stories about a situation she was in or someone she ran into.

Perhaps one of my favorite “Kathy” stories is one she told about a date she had with a very prominent Manhattan attorney. She was planning to work and then head over to the World Trade Center restaurant “Windows On The World” to meet he and his fancy friends.

While at work, someone had stolen her gorgeous Manolo Blahnik shoes she put in the back room to wear later that night. Without them, she had no alternative but to go to meet her date in the old powder blue, fuzzy, faux fur house slippers she had been plodding around in on set all day. The stores were closed and she had no other options but to go to this five star restaurant with these accomplished people in her old, beat-up slippers. She figured if they didn’t understand, then they weren’t worth it.

To hear her tell it, you would wet your pants in laughter –especially knowing how particular she was about her appearance. She just had a way of “setting the table” before serving up the story. She was the original Carrie Bradshaw.

She is survived by her husband David, stepdaughter Alana, and her sister Susan. I cannot express the impact she had on me and how much she will be missed. I’m trying to focus on the good times and the laughter. She was like a part of my family. Posting these photos when we were at Tavern on the Green in Manhattan with my mom and dad, my niece Analia, Lori Neapolitan, and Brian Clark.

A little piece of my heart went with you today, my dear Kathy, and you will forever be in my mind and thoughts. Thank you for making my life in this world a better place and may God bless your soul. Until we meet again!”

We mourn with the family of Kathy Pomerantz for this great loss. Please received our heartfelt condolences.
