Through the official Berserk Twitter account, The editorial department of Young Animal Comics has announced the news of this loss today on May 20.

One of the best-selling manga of all time, many of Final Fantasy 14 players have been paying tribute to the creator of the manga Berserk. The fans gather in online games to hold memorials for the writer.

Miura US publisher Dark Horse Comics, referred to him as a “master artist and storyteller” and expressed himself: “He will be greatly missed. Our condolences go out to his family and loved ones.”

No need to mention that Miura’s character designs were hugely influential on other comics and games. He worked on various manga projects over the years after becoming famous from Berserk.

The publication wrote in its official statement, sharing their feelings with fans: “The news of Miura’s sudden passing has blanketed the Young Animal editorial department in deep sadness. We never once saw him angry.”

The best-known artist’s work, Berserk, first published in 1989 and has been one of the bestselling comics ever since. Berserk ran to more than 35m copies sold worldwide besides its concept of being Dark, violent, and humorous.  

The book follows the story of a young warrior with a huge sword and an iron hand, who put himself on a journey, traveling through a medieval-inspired world of magic to revenge.

Koroush Khaneghah has said about Berserk: “It was so detailed, hollow and empty like the Beserk world. It led to the dark fantasy setting which was something I hadn’t encountered before. It combined the mystery and adventure I love from the fantasy world, with a brutal dark edge which made it addictive.”

A user tweeted: “Berserk’s influence was unreal. No exaggeration to say we might not have gotten some of these characters the way they are if it wasn’t for Miura’s work.”

Another said: “So yeah, Kentaro Miura the creator of #Berserk died. His artwork is beyond amazing and the story he crafted is one of the fundamental and most influential pieces of media. So much of what I’ve consumed has been his works and works influenced by him like Dark souls. Rest In Peace.”
