Mamba Security was deeply saddened to have received news of the passing of Sister Leigh. Leigh Alice Alcock, passed away on Thursday, 9 July, after a two week battle with Covid-19. Sister Leigh was the nursing sister who, together with a team of humble staff, ran the Edenvale Care Centre Hospice.
Sister Leigh lived to help people and make a difference, she ran the hospice selflessly and compassionately, and devoted her life to the patients she cared for. She was brave, determined and dedicated. These are the qualities that those who knew Sister Leigh, experienced first hand. She always put her patients first.
The Hospice cares for terminally ill patients, many of whom are from rural areas and very poor communities. The patients are sent to the hospice from surrounding hospitals and clinics, who are unable to accommodate them and many of these patients have no families. Mamba has been a donor to the centre since it started in 2002 and has proudly worked side by side with Sister Leigh throughout the years.
The work she did for the Care Centre and its patients will never go unnoticed. We salute Sister Leigh for her bravery and her commitment to the community. We express our deepest sympathy to her family, friends and colleagues. She will be sincerely missed by the Mamba Family. May this be a reminder to us all, during a time of uncertainty and suffering for so many, to follow in Sister Leigh’s footsteps, and act with kindness and compassion to all those around us.
