Matthew Guy whose full name is Matthew Jason Guy is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal Party of Australia Member of the Parliament of Victoria since 2006, representing Northern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council and Bulleen in the Legislative Assembly.

Matthew Guy was born on March 6, 1974 Greensborough, Australia. He has a Bachelor of Arts in politics and history from La Trobe University and has completed postgraduate studies in Ukrainian language and culture at Monash University.

Matthew Guy was a ministerial adviser to Liberal Premier Jeff Kennett and to the Assistant Federal Treasurer, Senator Rod Kemp. He was also the chief of staff to Denis Napthine during his period as opposition leader.

He has also worked for the Victorian Farmers Federation and for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and is a member of the St Kilda Saints, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Radio 3RRR and the National Trust of Victoria.

Matthew was elected to the state Legislative Council as a Member for the Northern Metropolitan Region in November 2006 and re-elected in 2010. In 2010 he was appointed the Minister for Planning and in early 2014 added the responsibilities of Minister for Multicultural Affairs and citizenship.

In 2014 Matthew was elected as the Member for Bulleen in the Legislative Assembly, soon after which he was elected as the Leader of the Liberal party and leader of the Opposition.

After resigning as Liberal Party leader in 2018, Matthew was appointed in 2019 as the Shadow Minister for Finance, Jobs and Trade and Business Precincts.

Before being elected to parliament Matthew worked for senior politicians such as Premier Jeff Kennett, Opposition Leader Denis Napthine and federal Minister Senator Rod Kemp.
