Mystery of Missing Jockey Chris Caserta's Cause of Death

The sad story has been complicated! young jockey Chris Caserta’s cause of death seems questionable since he was found dead after missing at a late-night swim at Surfers Paradise on Wednesday night. May he rest in peace.

26-year-old Caserta’s missing led to a Queensland police search when he went for a swim with a 25-year-old female, trackwork rider Amy Graham, at approximately 10 pm and did not come back from the water.

Gold Coast Turf Club officials reported, “He was at Surfers Paradise beach last night and went for a swim at 10 pm with a trackwork rider, they pulled her out and they can’t find him. The female track rider with him was rescued and was taken to hospital.”

Beloved Chris was an ex Victorian jockey who relocated to Queensland last year to hunt for more chances. He was the talk of racing circles following his weight loss to ride Jedastar at 44kg in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington in 2019.

While Jedastar ended last in the 2019 Lightning, Caserta announced earlier this year he would love another chance to ride at racing’s highest level and was trying to leave no stone unturned in his bid to kick off again and climb up racing’s highest peaks.

“Chris is one of the hardest workers I have ever seen, he has always been determined to make a go of it,” Caserta’s ex-manager in Queensland Garry Legg stated.

Southeast Queensland has been swamped by heavy rain and dangerous weather conditions this week with flooding reported in several areas. A 73-year-old Roma man was the first person to lose their life in this week’s floods which have swept cars down creeks, damaged properties, and forced the evacuation of Queensland towns.

A Queensland Police statement in relation to the Caserta missing, reading, “Just after 10 pm yesterday, a 25-year-old woman and 26-year-old man went swimming in the beach off the Esplanade. Members of the public observed the couple struggling in the water and were able to assist the woman to the beach. The man was unable to make it to shore and has not been seen since.”

Graham was helped to safety by onlookers, but Caserta could not be found. The search for Caserta started at 2 am, with helicopters and jetskis used by emergency services.

“The rescue helicopter as well as lifesavers on jet skis patrolled for some time but were unable to locate (Mr. Caserta),” a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson reported.

“As far as we know they went for a swim and some people on the esplanade heard a woman screaming and went in after her. But they were unable to locate him. The surf conditions looked OK just from the beach, but we’re aware of some significant undertows in that area from time to time which would have made it challenging for anyone out trying to rescue someone, ” he added.

Our team offers its deepest sympathies to his family, friends, fans, and all of his loved ones on these challenging days. You can also leave a condolence message below the comment box to honor him.

Caserta moved to Queensland after spending the majority of his career in Victoria. His most well-known ride was in 2019 on Jedastar in the group 1 Lightning Stakes, when he lost to ride the filly at just 44kg.
