We are saddened to announce the passing of retired Medford Firefighter Richard Wilson following his battle with cancer. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
Richard Wilson has passed away. we got to know about this through the news posted across social medias earlier today.
For every start of a journey, there must be an end. His journey has sadly come to an end on earth.
Rick was born in Medford and raised in both Concord and Medford. He was the son of the late Barbara (McLatchy) and George Wilson. After a time learning the painting trade with his grandfather and uncles, he joined the Army. The Vietnam War was raging and Rick spent two tours of duty there. These years had a great impact on the rest of his life. Upon returning to the States, he again tried his hand at industrial painting until he proudly started his career as a Medford Firefighter.
Richie was a true family man, and his time off was spent dropping off and picking up his girls from school, dance classes, and Girl Scout meetings, as well as renovating his home, which he shared with his wife of thirty-eight years, Ann (Tammaro) Wilson.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend and an inspiration to many. He was kind and accepting of all, but wouldn’t stand for BS.
He leaves behind his heartbroken wife Ann, daughters, Michelle of Lynn, and Julie of Somerville, along with his brother David Wilson of Virginia and a sister Janet McGonagle. He also leaves his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Paula and Mike Sheppard of New Hampshire. He will be missed by many McLatchy, DeIulis, and Tammaro relatives.
Visitation will be held on Monday July 27, 2020 from 10AM-12PM at SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway, Lynn, followed by graveside services and burial at St Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
Donations in Richie’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts General Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St. Danvers, MA or the Development Office, Massachusetts General Hospital, 125 Nashua St. STE 540, Boston, MA 02114-9952
