Prominent Imam Banding Drammeh was a leading figure in Islam in The Gambia having led the country’s apex Islamic body in the 2000s. He left the the role of president of the council in 2008 following the expiry of his term in office.
Banding Drammeh has died at his house in Brikama aged 90, family sources have confirmed.
The former Supreme Islamic Council president died on Thursday.
