Former Real Madrid forward, Michael Owen, has predicted tonight’s UEFA Europa League, UEL, matches.
Arsenal will host Villarreal in the Europa League semi-final second-leg tie at Emirates Stadium, Old Trafford, while Manchester United will face AS Roma in Italy.
The Gunners had lost 2-1 against Villarreal in the first-leg last week, while Man United defeated Roma 6-2 at Old Trafford.
Providing his predictions, Owen told BetVictor that “Arsenal managed to nick a valuable away goal in last week’s first leg tie, however, Villarreal were certainly worth their victory in the end.
“That goal should ignite some hope for Arsenal fans, and if their side can find a big home performance, they could reach the final.
“That said, the Gunners are winless in their last five matches at the Emirates, so I think it’s prudent to approach Mikel Arteta’s side with caution.
“Overall, I don’t see much between the sides, but I do feel the home side, especially with the return to form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, could have enough just to edge it. Arsenal 1, Villarreal 0.”
Commenting on the Roma vs Man United game, Owen said, “Well, Manchester United have played themselves into a terrific position going into their 2nd leg in Italy. Last week’s match at Old Trafford was eventful, to say the least, however, I can see a tighter match being played out here.
“Roma really have no choice but to go for it. That could play into the visitor’s hands, and with such a potent counter-attack, I think the Reds’ will take victory home to Manchester. Roma 0, Manchester United 1.”
The kick-off time for the matches is 8 pm.
