Waukegan, Illinois interim police chief issues apology to teen wrongfully arrested after dollar store shooting – What We Know!

WAUKEGAN, Ailing. (WLS) — Waukegan’s interim police chief has issued an apology for the wrongful arrest of a teen for a capturing.

Martell Williams, 15, spent two nights in police custody final week. Police believed he shot an area greenback retailer employee.

It seems he was taking part in in a highschool basketball recreation on the time of the capturing. He was arrested in entrance of his highschool classmates.

In an announcement launched Thursday, interim Chief Keith Zupec admitted Williams didn’t commit the crime, saying partly, “My heartfelt apology goes out to this younger man and his household. I’ll make it my goal to not enable this group to let him, his household, or Waukegan down once more.”
